Being a photographer

The job is a complex determination, by now I’m not completely secure what could be my job. I would like to job as a photographer, that is what I really am. I’d love to work as a photographer, I imagine myself in Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, or anywhere I would have to be, trying to expose and denouncing the cruelty and the human rights violations all over the world, always with my camera. Also I would like to work as a documentarist, in similar spaces, but I think both jobs could exist together. I would job outdoors always, I feel uncomfortable in closed spaces (even I hate elevators, of course I use them, but I don’t like those machines).  I would travel a lot in my desired jobs, but the ideal way to me is staying some days in Chile and some traveling.  I study journalism, but I’m at a history degree to, but I won’t complete that career until I finish journalism, but I would love to complete history. I would like to course a public politics master or some one related to arts, I t...

Walking on a cloudy day

It was 2019, I was so stressed, and I needed to give a breath to my mind. My Mamiya camera always has been my therapy, that machine is so heavy, around 2.5kg, is slow to work, really slow, it generates that I measurement the light with my phone because it’s only mechanic, it doesn’t have a battery compartment, just metal, glass, 10 photos each film and precision.  I remember it was April, at the middle of the month, the sun wasn’t present, there was clouds only, a really cloudy day, and cool too. My freezer only had low speed films, but those films were legendary emulsions, the Kodak Vericolor III and the Plus-X, the second is my favorite film ever (I’ve only used it 3 times, that day was the second). I picked up my backpack, the camera, those two films and my journalism student card. I went out, took a bus and arrived at the nearest train line.  I began to walk and shot the first photos on the color film, the lasts on Vericolor were taken to some “animitas”, then I put the Pl...

I remember that my grandpa lent me its camera to take a picture, my first picture, I was around five years old.   The photography transformed into my hobby when I began to course an afterschool workshop, that happened during 2006 to 2007. I got my first camera during that first year, 2006. My grandpa, Benito, realized that I really liked to take photos, and I had a lot of interest into the workshop, so he decided to give me his camera, his Canon AV-1 of 1978.   Antofagasta, 2018 Canon AV-1 and Kodak Tri-X 400 Since that time photography has been a fundamental part of my life. Now, I’m a photographer, I’ve worked as a portrait photographer and also as a biker photographer. But, the most important photographic work I’ve had is to be assistant teacher at the university.
